The one piece of advice that actually helped me stop job hopping

An old captain at my station told me to stop looking for a job that makes me happy and start looking for one that doesn't make me miserable. I thought that was super pessimistic for years until I realized every job I left was because of one thing that drove me nuts, not because I hated the whole thing. Since then I've been in this gig for 5 years because I asked myself 'can I live with the bad parts' before signing up. What's the worst part of your current job that you've just accepted?

Can't believe you actually took advice from an old captain.

Tbh that advice works way better than people give it credit for because it forces you to stop chasing some perfect fantasy job that doesn't exist. Most folks focus on what they want in a role but never ask themselves what they can actually tolerate day in and day out. Ngl accepting the bad parts upfront is way more honest than pretending you'll fix everything once you're in the door.
