Shoutout to the coworker who told me to stop saying yes to every extra shift at the warehouse
I turned down 3 overtime shifts this week after he pointed out they were paying me straight time instead of the weekend rate, and I finally get why my old supervisor said I was my own worst enemy, anyone else get talked into that trap?
Man, I had a version of this at a pizza place years ago. My manager kept scheduling me for "closing shifts" that somehow started at 4pm, and I did not catch on until a new guy asked why I always closed and he never did. Turns out closing meant an extra hour of cleanup that was paid the same as standing around at 5pm. I did the math one night on a napkin and wanted to crawl under the oven. That guy got a free pizza out of me for opening my eyes. Good on your coworker for saying something out loud.
