Paid $300 for a resume writer and got back word salad

Last March I was job hunting in Phoenix and figured I needed pro help since my resume was getting zero bites. Found a service online with good reviews, paid $300 upfront for a resume and LinkedIn revamp. What came back was full of buzzwords like 'synergistic leader' and phrases that didnt even match my actual landscaping manager duties. I sent it to two friends who hire people and both said it sounded fake and impersonal. Total waste of cash, and I ended up rewriting everything myself in a weekend using free templates. Anyone else get burned by one of these expensive resume services?

My buddy Dave dropped 250 bucks on one of those services back in 2021 and they turned his warehouse supervisor job into something about "optimizing cross-functional supply chain ecosystems." He said the guy clearly never read the info he sent over, just ran it through some template. He rewrote the whole thing himself in like two nights and got hired at a place in Tempe a few weeks later.
