Paid $200 for a resume writing service and got generic garbage back

I figured since I've been roofing for 15 years I couldn't write a decent resume myself, so I hired one of those online services. They sent me a template with my name swapped in and buzzwords like 'synergy' that I'd never say in real life. I redid it myself in about 3 hours using free samples from my local library's website, and that version got me 2 interviews. Has anyone else tried those services and ended up worse off than when you started?

Paid 200 bucks for a robot to write like a robot, classic. Congrats on outsmarting the grift with a library card, that's the real synergy move.
