Just had the worst shift of my nursing career last Thursday

I work nights in the ER at County General in Portland and last Thursday was a total disaster. We had 3 code blues back to back between 2am and 5am, plus a guy who threw a chair at the triage desk. What made it stand out was how everything fell apart at once - the lab computer crashed, we ran out of warm blankets, and the coffee machine broke. Has anyone else had a shift where every single thing went wrong at the same time?

Man I used to think people were just venting when they said "everything fell apart at once" but your story about the lab crash and coffee machine breaking together finally made me get it. Sometimes the universe just decides to hit you with everything at the exact worst moment and there's nothing you can do but survive it. Hope your next shift is way more chill.

Nah, I actually think the universe balances things out way more than people give it credit for. Like yeah that shift was rough but maybe next week everything goes perfectly smooth and you don't even sweat. Honestly the bad stuff just sticks in your brain longer.
