I used to hand my resume to a manager in person, now I just click submit and hear nothing
Back in 2012 I walked into a Best Buy in Tampa with 10 printed resumes and asked to talk to a manager, and two of those visits turned into interviews. Last week I applied to 14 jobs online and got zero replies, not even the auto reject emails. Now I just tweak a few words to match the job description and hit submit from my couch. Recruiters say the computer filters you out before a human ever reads it, which is wild to me. Has anyone actually gotten hired by walking in somewhere with a paper resume lately, or is that just dead now?
