Hot take: ghosting after a first interview is becoming way too normal

I had a phone screen with a company in Austin last Tuesday, they seemed super into me, said they'd follow up in 48 hours. That was 10 days ago and I haven't heard a word. I sent one polite check-in email yesterday, still nothing. Has this happened to anyone else where a recruiter just disappears like that?

Ugh that's SO frustrating, sorry that happened to you.

@jones.brooke said it pretty well, I used to roll my eyes at people getting worked up over this stuff too. But reading through your post, I get it now, seeing how it messed with your whole week. That specific situation you described, where the person just kept pushing even after you said no, that really clicked for me. Sometimes you just need to see someone go through it to realize how bad it actually is.

Kinda used to think people overreacted about stuff like this but @the_sean your post definitely made me reconsider. It's one thing to hear about it, but seeing how it affected you personally really drove it home. I can totally understand why you'd be upset now. Sometimes we just need a real example to change how we see things.
