Hitting 100 applications finally paid off in a way I didn't expect

I kept a simple spreadsheet every time I sent out a resume, starting back in March. When the counter hit 100 last week, I felt that strange mix of tired and proud. The surprise is that my 87th application, the one I almost skipped because the posting was two weeks old, got me a second interview. That company called me yesterday and offered a position making $8,000 more than my current job. The numbers mattered because they showed me that persistence beats perfect timing, especially in this market. Man, 100 applications is rough, I feel you on that tired and proud mix. That's awesome it came from the one you almost skipped though, timing is such a crapshoot. Congrats on the offer, you earned that.
