Vent: The 4th time I tried to pitch my tent in the rain finally clicked

So I’ve been camping about 2 years now and every time it rained I’d end up with a saggy, leaky tent. Last weekend at Indian Lake State Park, I finally watched a guy set up his tent in like 5 minutes flat. Turns out I’ve been pointing the rainfly backward and not staking the corners at a 45 degree angle this whole time. Has anyone else had that dumb moment where you realize you’ve been doing a basic thing completely backward?

Oh man, I spent my first year of camping setting my tent up with the rainfly inside out... thought it was supposed to puff up like a parachute or something... The first time it rained I had a puddle inside my sleeping bag and everything. Glad you finally got that lightbulb moment though, it's crazy how one little angle change makes such a huge difference.

Tents are basically just expensive blanket forts we overthink.
