Vent: My old canvas tent is still better than my buddy's new high-tech one
I used my 15 year old canvas tent on a rainy trip to the Olympic Peninsula last month, while my friend brought his new $400 ultralight model. After two days of steady rain, his gear was damp inside from condensation, but my old tent was bone dry and warm. Am I crazy for thinking the old, heavy gear sometimes just works better?

It's like how my grandma's cast iron pan cooks better than my nonstick one. New isn't always an upgrade.

My nonstick pan heats up in half the time.

Actually, heating up faster isn't always a good thing with nonstick. That coating can start to break down if it gets too hot too fast. Cast iron takes longer because it holds heat way better once it's warm, which is why it sears food so well. They're just different tools for different jobs. I'd be careful cranking the heat on a nonstick pan.
