Tried a titanium camping cup. Hated every sip.

Bought one of those fancy titanium cups for backpacking. Thought it would be light and cool. First morning coffee tasted like metal. Burned my lips because the rim heats up instantly. Learned my lesson: some gear just ain't worth the hype. Anybody else regret a lightweight upgrade?

Did you try heating up the metal a bit before using it? Ngl, I had the same problem with a titanium spork until I learned to wrap a little bit of cloth around the rim or just let it cool down before I take a sip. Honestly, the metal taste goes away after a few uses once the cup gets seasoned, but that first week is rough. I ended up just using mine for cold drinks and keeping my old enamel mug for coffee on trips.

Is it weird how everything tastes different once you get used to it, @michael_craig?
