My buddy in Denver said to never cheap out on a sleeping pad, and after a miserable night in the Tetons with a $30 foam pad, I finally get it.
I woke up freezing on the ground at 2 AM because the pad had zero R-value and I spent the rest of the trip with a sore back, so what's a good insulated pad under $150 that actually works?

My first trip to Yellowstone I made that exact same mistake. The Klymit Static V insulated is a solid pick, I've used mine down to about 30 degrees and stayed warm. That upgrade makes all the difference for your back and your sleep.

Yeah, that foam pad is basically a yoga mat. The Static V is good, but check out the Paria ReCharge XL too. It's a bit warmer for the price.

Oof, that's the universe telling you to stop using a glorified pool float. I'd check out the Klymit Static V insulated, it got me through some cold nights without breaking the bank.
