Just realized I was setting up my tent wrong for years because of one comment
A guy at a campsite in Oregon last fall watched me fight with my rainfly and said, 'You're pulling it too tight, it needs some slack to breathe.' I always cranked every strap down hard thinking it made things secure. Tried his way on my next trip, leaving about an inch of give on the guylines, and my tent stopped getting that damp condensation inside. Has anyone else had a piece of simple advice totally change how you use your gear?

Totally get that, it's a game changer. I used to do the same thing with my tent and wondered why it felt like a sauna inside. Leaving a little slack makes all the difference.

Honestly, I learned that the hard way on a camping trip last year. Woke up soaked from all the condensation because I had the rainfly pulled way too tight. It seems wrong to leave it loose, but it really lets the air move. Tbh, it's one of those small things that makes a huge difference.
