I finally fixed my leaky tent seam after 3 failed patch jobs and a wasted $45
Kept getting soaked at the foot of my tent on a trip near Bend last month, and it turned out the seam tape was peeling because I was sealing it cold in my garage instead of in warm sun. Three patch kits and $45 later, a $6 tube of seam grip finally did it in 20 minutes. Anyone else have a fix that only works when the weather cooperates?
Tried sealing mine on a chilly morning last spring and it peeled off within a week. Learned the hard way that seam grip needs heat to cure right, so now I just wait for a sunny afternoon and let the tent sit out for an hour before I even start. Did the same thing you did, wasted money on two cheap patch kits that bubbled up the second it rained. Honestly the sun trick plus rubbing the old tape off with alcohol made the biggest difference for me. Warm weather really does half the work.
