Tell me you used a heat gun or a hair dryer on that thing. Four hours is a serious commitment to an old workhorse like that. What finally got it to break free?

Honestly, the "four hours" thing is the real clue. At that point, it's not about heat or force, it's about patience and cycles. I bet they went through a slow loop of tighten, tap, soak, cool, repeat. The real win was probably just walking away for ten minutes between tries, letting the penetrant do a tiny bit more each time. The final break is almost always a surprise on those old timers, you just feel it give during what you thought was another routine try.

Man, I feel your pain. Sometimes those old parts just won't quit until you're ready to.
