Took me 6 hours to fix a shutter that should have been a 20 minute job

Everyone says to check the aperture blades first on a jammed shutter, but I spent all afternoon chasing a sticky return spring on a Pentax Spotmatic instead. Turns out a tiny bit of old lubricant had gummed up the gear train near the mirror box. Has anyone else wasted a whole day on a simple fix you overlooked?

Watched a buddy spend four hours on a shutter screw he put in backwards.

Working backwards is one thing but four hours on a single screw means he had to have been real stubborn about it.
