That moment you realize the tiny spring you just launched across the room is the only thing holding the shutter together

Happened yesterday with a Nikon FM2, and I spent 45 minutes on my hands and knees with a magnet. Anyone have a better method for chasing down those little demons?

Been there with an old Pentax. A bright flashlight held low to the floor helps cast long shadows from those tiny parts. A piece of pantyhose over the vacuum hose nozzle can save you if you suck it up. Magnets are a lifesaver, but the shadow trick is what usually finds them for me.

Oh man, @maryh96, that shadow trick is brilliant. I never would have thought of that. The pantyhose over the vacuum is a total game changer too, because you're right, you always end up sucking something up by accident. I've spent way too long on my hands and knees with a flashlight looking for a screw. Next time I'm trying your method first, holding the light real low. That should make those tiny parts look huge.
