That cheap ultrasonic cleaner actually did the job on a stuck shutter
I spent months fighting a sticky leaf shutter on an old folder, tried every solvent trick I knew, even left it soaking overnight in lighter fluid. Finally caved and bought a $45 ultrasonic cleaner off Amazon on a whim, figured worst case it becomes a parts washer. Ran the shutter blades in a tiny jar of contact cleaner with distilled water for 6 minutes at 40C and the thing works smoother than it has in years. The trick was using a small glass dish and keeping the part suspended so the cavitation actually hit the blades, not just the basket. I used to think those cleaners were gimmick gear for jewelry only, but after that result I am 100% converted. Anyone else had wild wins with a budget ultrasonic for stubborn mechanisms?
