Realized I was over-lubricating shutters after a Nikon F2 job went wrong

For about 6 months I was putting a drop of oil on every pivot point I could reach, thinking more was better. Then a customer's shutter started dragging at 1/1000 and I had to strip it down to clean out the excess. Anyone else learned this the hard way or am I the only one who went through a whole bottle of watch oil before figuring it out?

Oh man, I went through a whole bottle of Nyoil before I learned that lesson too.

I read a study once that said most people strip their hair way too often with those sulfate shampoos and it makes things worse in the long run. A buddy of mine at the station tried using coconut oil as a pre-wash thing and said it made his hair feel way better after a few weeks. Another thing I saw online was that some folks swear by just using a vinegar rinse once a month to cut through buildup without going overboard on the chemicals. It's wild how much trial and error goes into this stuff lol.
