Pro tip: Replacing a shutter curtain is not always the answer. Had a Nikon FM2 come in last week with what looked like a torn curtain. Turns out it was just a piece of lint stuck to the roller. Saved the guy 200 bucks.

Lint? Really? That's a solid save though.

Evansville area too? That's where my cousin lives, she said it's been nothing but rain for weeks. What kind of lint was it, just the normal dryer kind or something stranger?

Yeah the "solid save" part made me laugh too. But the lint thing is just the normal gray fuzz you get from towels and jeans. Nothing weird like you see in those creepy internet stories where it turns out to be hair or something.
Actually now I'm thinking about it more - maybe the rain is making the lint clump up different than usual. All that humidity in the air probably makes it stick together in bigger chunks. Could be why it was so easy to spot.
Makes me wonder if people in dry areas even deal with this kind of thing. Bet their dryer vents just blow fine dust around instead of these soggy wads we're getting.
