One customer's comment changed how I price shutter repairs
Back in March a retired guy brought in a Yashica with a stuck shutter and I quoted him $120. He looked at me and said 'son, I've taken this camera through two monsoons in Vietnam, I just want it working, not appraised.' That made me realize I was charging for fear of complexity, not the actual fix. Took me 40 minutes to clean it, now I ask about the camera's history before I ever quote a price. Has anyone else let a customer's story shift their repair philosophy?
