Old Rolleiflex from a garage sale had oil on the taking lens that looked like years of neglect
After six hours of careful cleaning with lighter fluid and cotton swabs the images went from hazy and soft to sharp like a modern lens, anyone else run into sticky shutter blades from old lubricant seeping onto the glass?

Spent a whole weekend nursing a sticky Compur shutter on a 1950s Agfa folder. Thought I'd be clever and used lighter fluid on the blades, ended up with a streak of oil running down the lens that looked like a tear from the camera crying for help. Finally fixed it by just leaving the shutter open in a warm room for two days to let the old grease reflow or whatever. These old cameras are basically mechanical drama queens, but man when they work they're worth the headache.

Dried lubricant turns into glue, that's just old Rolleiflexes being their fussy selves.
