I finally tried a cheap plastic spudger against my good metal one for ribbon cable clips
Had a Fuji X-T3 come in with a stuck rear screen, needed to pop the tiny clip on the flex cable. The metal tool I always used slipped and nearly tore the cable. Grabbed a five dollar plastic spudger from a phone repair kit, and it popped right off without a scratch. The extra give in the plastic made all the difference. Anyone else find a simple swap like that saves a ton of headaches?

skylerbell asks about reaching for the plastic one first, and honestly yeah, I basically treat my metal spudger like an enemy now. That thing almost cost me a ribbon cable and a whole Saturday of crying over a dead camera. Plastic is just smarter for the job, like using a butter knife when you're scared of a real one. It made me wonder though, how many of us are still stubbornly using metal tools just because they look more professional?

Been there with the metal spudger slip, it's a heart-stopping moment. That little bit of flex in plastic tools is a total game changer for delicate work. I keep both in my kit but the plastic one comes out first for any ribbon cable now, not just the tiny ones. It just feels safer and gives you more control. What other small tool swaps have made your repairs easier?

That "extra give in the plastic" is a good point. Do you find yourself reaching for the plastic one first now for all ribbon cables, or just the super tiny ones?
