Hit 200 CLA repairs this week and it caught me off guard

I was just cleaning out my repair log and realized I've done 200 Canon lens CLA jobs since I started tracking in 2019. That's a lot of tiny screws and greasy helicoids. Has anyone else hit a milestone that made them stop and think about how much time they've put into this?

That line about "tiny screws and greasy helicoids" really hits home. I used to think CLA work was just maintenance, something you do to keep things running. But after my own tally hit a similar number last year, I realized it's more like a craft. You get to know each lens's personality, the way it fights you or gives in. It changed my whole view on the process.

Have you ever had a lens that just absolutely refuses to come apart no matter how careful you are? @karen_nelson40 you're spot on about it being a craft, especially with those helicoids. I've found that keeping a small notebook with notes on each lens's quirks saves me so much time. Like which direction the aperture blades stick, or if a certain screw always strips if you look at it wrong. It's not just cleaning, it's building a relationship with the glass. That tally adds up fast, but every one teaches you something new about your own patience too.
