DAE still reach for a spanner first on a stuck filter ring, even though the rubber stopper trick works better?
For years I grabbed a filter wrench on any ring that would not budge, and I cracked two glass filters from the 1980s because of it. Now I press a $2 sink stopper against the glass, and it spins off in about 4 seconds flat. Anyone here got a method that beats the stopper on really frozen rings?
Did you wince when those old filters cracked too, or was it more of a slow burn regret? I feel you though, I've got a wrench sitting in my bag that I still grab out of habit even when the stopper is right there.
