25 years of dust on one Nikon F2 vs 20 minutes with a blower bulb

Picked up a beat up F2 at an estate sale in Sacramento for $40, and the finder glass looked like frosted glass until I hit it with a Rocket blower and a lens pen. Turns out the "haze" was just 25 years of dust sitting on top, not fungus like I feared. Anyone else ever talk themselves into a worst case fix when it was just basic cleaning?
