Three months into SSDI and I realized I was filing my work reports wrong the whole time
I was putting my gross pay on the monthly work activity reports. Not net. A lady at the SSA office in Fresno caught it last week. She asked me why my numbers were so high. I felt stupid. All those months I might have triggered a review for nothing. Has anyone else mixed up gross vs net on their reports?

Did they ever explain it clearly when you first started or was it buried in the fine print? Seems like a real easy thing to mess up if you aren't used to reporting stuff like that. Your mileage may vary but I bet half the people on SSDI have done the same thing at some point.

You said "your mileage may vary but I bet half the people on SSDI have done the same thing at some point," and I have to disagree with that. The SSA sends out a clear booklet with your award letter that says "gross earnings" on the work report form in bold. I read mine cover to cover when I started because I was scared of messing something up. People need to take more responsibility for reading the instructions instead of blaming the fine print.
