My SSDI phone hearing got crashed by my neighbor's leaf blower at 9am
I had my SSDI phone hearing last Tuesday at 9am from my apartment in Fresno, and about 4 minutes in my neighbor fired up a leaf blower right outside my window. The judge asked me to describe my daily pain levels and all she could hear was that thing roaring, so I panicked and crawled into my closet with the phone. I sat on the floor between my shoes for the rest of the call and it actually worked because the closet is the quietest spot in my place. My lawyer messaged me after and said the judge laughed and noted the interruption on the record. Has anyone else had a hearing get wrecked by random noise, and did it hurt your case at all?
Wait, you hid in your closet between your shoes and that saved the whole hearing? That is wild but honestly kind of smart, because at least the judge could hear you after that. I can't believe your neighbor was running a leaf blower at 9am on a random Tuesday, like who does that? The fact that the judge laughed and put it on the record probably means she believed you, since if she was annoyed she would have just said so. That lawyer message sounds like good news to me. I'd bet it did not hurt your case at all.
