I thought the $5,000 SDI limit was plenty until my HR lady at the Sacramento job said most people blow through it in 14 weeks
She pulled up the EDD site and showed me the math, which is why I finally started a short term disability policy through my union for $22 a month, and I am wondering if anyone else here did the same or went a different route.

Did the math on that myself and yeah, 14 weeks goes by fast when you're not getting a paycheck. $22 a month is basically one lunch you're giving up for peace of mind. Cheaper than finding out the hard way.
