Fought with SSA online portal for 3 hours then called the field office and got it done in 10 minutes

I've been trying to update my work activity report on the SSA website for like two weeks now. The portal kept timing out or giving me some vague error about my session. Yesterday I finally gave up and called the San Diego field office direct. The lady on the phone was super nice, asked me maybe 5 questions and it was done. I mean I get that they want people to do things online to save time but the website is just broken half the time. Has anyone else had way better luck just calling your local office instead of fighting with the online system?

Man I gotta be honest I see it the other way on this one. Yeah the website can be clunky but calling in means you're sitting on hold forever waiting for someone to pick up. Plus if you call during lunch hour or after 4pm you're basically gambling with your time. I've had way better luck using the website early in the morning like 7am when nobody else is on it. Stuff loads fast and I'm in and out in 15 minutes tops.

Ha exactly! That's totally my experience too lol. I've been doing that early morning website trick for years now and it's the only way I'll touch that site. Tried calling once around 3pm on a Wednesday and sat on hold for 45 minutes listening to that awful looping music. Never again. The website at 7am is like a completely different world - pages load instantly, no lag, no errors. I can do everything in like 10 minutes flat and actually get on with my day. People who complain about the site probably just tried it once during peak hours and gave up.
