Finally got my wheelchair ramp approved after 11 months of waiting

The county kept saying they lost my paperwork three times. I had to go in person to the office in San Jose and sit there for 4 hours until someone found it in a pile on their desk. The ramp was installed last Tuesday and it actually works well. Has anyone else had to physically camp out at a government office to get things moving?

Sat there for three hours myself last month just to renew a simple permit.

Yeah but I mean San Jose is actually one of the better counties for this stuff, it's the smaller ones that are nightmares. I had a friend in Merced who waited 14 months and they never even told him they lost his paperwork, they just kept saying "we're processing it." At least you got yours in the end though, that's what matters most.

Totally agree that bigger counties usually have their act together a bit better. It's the rural ones where stuff just falls through the cracks constantly.
