Applied for SSDI in person at the Fresno office, thought it'd be a nightmare

I was sure the walk-in would take all day, but the clerk was actually helpful and got my paperwork filed in under an hour. The part that caught me off guard was the wait for a medical review, they told me 8 months. Has anyone else tried going in person instead of online, did it speed things up for you?

Wow, that's way better than my experience! I walked into the Fresno office last year and tripped over my own cane in the lobby, so the clerk spent the first 10 minutes checking if I was okay instead of processing my application. Honestly, I think the in-person thing helped me because they could see I was a mess, whereas online I'm just another faceless form. But yeah, they told me about the same timeline, 8 months feels like a lifetime when you're counting every day. Did they give you any tips for checking on your status while you wait, or is it just the black hole until then?
