Pro tip: check the channel guide before you set the VCR, learned that the hard way in 1996
I was at my grandma's house in Toledo in the summer of 1996, all set to tape the Nick at Nite block while we went to a family cookout. Came home and hit play, and instead of the shows I wanted I got 30 straight minutes of an infomercial for a food dehydrator because the channel numbers had changed on her cable box. Grandma said "you should've checked the little paper guide on top of the set" and she was right, I wasted a whole blank tape on a guy selling jerky machines. Now I always write the channel number down on a sticky note before hitting record. Did anyone else get burned by a cable lineup shuffle back then?
