A 9 volt battery and a bent paperclip got my parents' old Jerrold box working again
Everyone in this group says those Jerrold and Scientific Atlanta boxes from the 80s are paperweights once the cable company stops sending the descrambler signal, but that was not true for us. My parents kept their Jerrold and when the picture went scrambled in 1997, a guy at a shop on Route 9 in Wappingers Falls showed me you could pop the top and bridge two contacts with a paperclip to force it back to channel 3. It ran for another 14 months until the box finally died. Has anyone here cracked open an old converter box, and did the paperclip trick work for you or did you fry the board?
