Warning: I keep seeing guys skip the cable comb on new fiber runs.
It matters because a messy bundle can cause micro bends and signal loss later. Anyone else run into this on a big apartment job?

Yeah, "micro bends and signal loss later" is the real kicker. I read a case study about a hotel install where they skipped the combs. Six months in, tenants started reporting spotty internet. The tech had to re-dress an entire riser because the fibers were pinched where they crossed over each other. All that time saved upfront got spent twice over on the repair.

It's also about who pays for the callback later.

That hotel case study sounds like a training issue, not a tool problem. A good tech can manage fibers without combs if they take their time and dress them right. Calling combs a must-have is just pushing extra gear for simple jobs.
