My lead tech told me to stop rushing rough-ins and I finally get why
Honestly this older installer named Ray pulled me aside after a rough-in in Dayton and told me he has been doing this 20 years and has never once seen a callback on a job where the guy took his time on the box mounts. I used to bang out 8 outlets an hour, now I do 4 and my rework rate dropped to almost nothing. Has anyone else had a lead who slowed them down like that?

That thing Ray told you is the same lesson you see everywhere once you notice it. My grandma used to say she never had time to do it right but always had time to do it twice, and that stuck with me more than any code class ever did. The fast guys at my shop are the ones running back to fix stuff, and the slow guys just move on to the next job and never look back. Quality work always seems slower up front but it pays you back later, whether it's cooking, wiring, or fixing a fence. Good on Ray for pulling you aside like that, because most guys just let you keep making the same mistake for years.
