My crimper decided to die halfway up a 32 foot ladder yesterday
I was hooking up a new drop for a customer in Austin and the ratchet mechanism just gave out mid-crimp. Had to shimmy back down, grab my backup from the truck, and reclimb the whole dang thing. Anyone else had a tool fail at the absolute worst moment?

That 32 foot climb back down must have felt real long with a dead crimper.

I always keep a spare crimper in a zippered pouch clipped to my belt loop now. Learned that lesson after my main one jammed up on a hot roof in July with the customer watching from their driveway. Took me twenty minutes to realize I could have just swapped heads instead of fighting with the broken shell catch. Check if yours has a replaceable head assembly, saved me from buying a whole new tool last month.
