I used to swear by crimping my own coax ends, then a 92 year old lady in Tulsa changed my mind about compression fittings
For 4 years I crimped every RG6 end on my installs (cheaper, and I was stubborn about it), then last month a 92 year old customer in Tulsa asked why her picture kept going fuzzy every time it rained, and I traced it back to water getting in through 6 bad crimps. Swapped that whole house to compression fittings on a $38 tool and her signal hasn't dropped once in 3 weeks, even through two storms. So what got you guys to finally switch, a bad callback or something a customer noticed first?
Took me way longer than it should have to admit those crimps were junk, so no judgment here. Mine was a callback on a Saturday morning in the rain, guy's game kept freezing every time a storm rolled through, and I pulled eight ends that looked like they'd been chewed by a dog. Bought the compression tool that same afternoon and never looked back. A 92 year old lady calling out your work is a special kind of humbling, but hey, she basically did your training for you. Cheaper ends just mean you pay for them twice, once at the store and once on a callback.
