Had to pick between a cheap crimper and a good one on a tight job

Last week I was running CAT6 in this old office building, and my cheap $12 crimper from Amazon started mangling the ends. I had to choose between finishing with that junk or driving 30 minutes to the supply house for a $45 Paladin. I went with the Paladin, and it saved me 2 hours of redoing bad crimps. Anyone else find that spending a little more on tools pays off way faster than you'd think?

Funny you mention that... I had a similar thing happen with a cheap coax crimper once. It was fine for a couple jobs then just started chewing up connectors. Picked up a better one and it's been going strong for years now.

The Klein crimper I got from Home Depot had a die number stamped wrong on one of the slots. It was the RG6 position but it was actually set for RG59, so I crushed about six connectors before I figured it out. Had to pull out my calipers to check the measurements because I thought I was losing my mind. I mean, even the good brands slip up sometimes, just less often than the cheap ones.
