Caught a 60 foot drop off a loose J-hook in Council Bluffs last month, now I hook check everything
Honestly I got lucky. Was pulling a 60 foot run across a ceiling in Council Bluffs and the J-hook two spans back popped loose, sent the whole bundle down about 3 feet. Nobody was under it but my helper was maybe 4 feet away. Turns out the last guy on that job hung the hooks off drywall anchors rated for 10 lbs and we had 40 lbs of cable on them. Now I yank test each hook with my own weight before anything goes up, takes 30 extra seconds and I don't care if it slows the crew down. Ngl it cost us 20 minutes on the next install and my lead grumbled but I'd rather hear that than an ER story. Has anyone else run into drywall anchor hooks on a handoff job, and how do you call it out without stepping on toes?
