Can we talk about how we used to run coax through finished walls?

I used to spend an hour fishing a line, but after a job in a 1950s brick house last fall, I bought a flex bit and now it takes 15 minutes. Anyone have a better trick for plaster and lath?

How do you even keep the bit from getting stuck in that old plaster?

Ever drill into something and just hope for the best? I usually just pull the trigger and then spend the next ten minutes cussing at a stuck bit. My method is more luck than skill.

Honestly, I've never had a bit get stuck in plaster. You just need to let the drill do the work and not push so hard. My old house is all plaster and I go right through it clean. Maybe your drill is set too high or you're using the wrong kind of bit. A basic masonry bit and a steady hand works every time for me.
