A lead guy in Boise told me to stop drilling pilot holes in brick, and my anchor pullouts dropped to zero
I used to drill a 3/16 pilot then drive the anchor, which felt safer but cracked the face on maybe 1 in 5 bricks. He said just use the hammer drill on hammer mode with a 1/4 bit and skip the pilot, and let the bit do the work without pushing. Did 40 drops over 6 jobs in Meridian and Nampa since, and not one spin out. Anyone else get taught the pilot hole thing first, or was that just my old crew?
