Vent: My uncle told me to never use pocket screws on face frames, but I tried it on a small cabinet anyway.

The frame split after a week in a humid garage, just like he said it would. What's your go-to method for attaching face frames that can handle some movement?

Well, my own garage is basically a museum of things I built wrong the first time... I learned the hard way too. For face frames, I just use glue and regular wood screws now, but I drill a pilot hole and then a bigger hole over it so the screw shank has room to slide. Lets the wood move without splitting.

Oh man, my first face frame I ever tried... I didn't even know what a pilot hole was. Just drove a screw straight into some pine and heard that awful crack. I had to fill the split with so much glue and sawdust it looked like a bad scar. That piece is still in my shed, a real ugly reminder.
