The gap between my first cabinet door and my 500th one is kind of hilarious
My first door had a 1/8 inch gap on the hinge side and I was just proud it didn't fall off... now I can't stand anything over a 32nd. Has anyone else looked back at their early work and cringed a little?

@butler.abby nailed it, the side by side comparison is brutal. I remodeled my own kitchen last year and had to fight the urge to rip out my first few doors and start over.

Honestly, "the gap between my first cabinet door and my 500th one is kind of hilarious" really got me. I used to be all about getting things done fast, I barely cared about gaps or alignment as long as it looked ok from across the room. But after a few years of seeing other builders' work and noticing how much smoother their stuff looked up close, I started slowing way down and getting picky about that 32nd of an inch too. Now I look at my old doors and just think man, I was so sloppy. It's wild how your standards just creep up without you noticing until you compare them side by side.
