Back at my first shop in Grand Rapids we cut every drawer dovetail by hand with a marking gauge and a fine saw, and it took me about 40 minutes per drawer before I got fast. The new place I work at runs a Porter Cable jig with a carbide bit and the joints come out dead tight with almost no cleanup, which kind of bugs me after all that time learning to saw straight. Did anyone else go through the hand tool gauntlet only to find out a jig does it better and faster?
