PSA: I spent 6 months sanding drawer fronts wrong before a guy at the lumberyard set me straight
I always sanded with the grain on everything, figured that was the rule. Then a cabinetmaker named Gary at the Hardwood Supply in Nashville watched me for a minute and said 'you know you gotta go diagonal on end grain right?' My drawer fronts had been fuzzy for half a year for no reason. Any of yall had a basic technique that nobody told you about until way too late?

Man I spent like a whole year sanding my cutting boards the exact same way and wondering why they kept coming out looking like I'd attacked them with a cheese grater. Gary sounds like a legend, wish I had a Gary in my life before I ruined like six projects.

Oh man, a whole year?! That's brutal... I would've given up after two boards and just bought a new one. You must have the patience of a saint.
