Finally figured out the 1/32 rule for drawer fronts
I kept having gaps on my inset drawers until I hit a perfect 1/32 inch gap all around on a set of 12 drawers last month. It was that exact number that made everything look right for the first time. Anyone else have a measurement that just clicked one day?

The 1/32 rule is an absolute game changer, I had the same problem for years on my kitchen cabinets. I spent three whole weekends sanding and re-sanding drawer fronts before I finally measured exactly 1/32 on each side and it was like magic. That tiny gap makes everything look so clean and professional, its wild that such a small number makes all the difference. My best tip is to use a feeler gauge to check your gaps as you go, it saved me so much time. I still smile every time I see those drawers slide in just right.

Nah I actually prefer a slightly tighter 1/64 gap, gives it that custom furniture look.

Isn't it funny how the smallest measurements in woodworking are the ones that make the biggest difference, same as with cars or guitars where a tiny adjustment changes everything? That 1/32 gap versus 1/64 probably separates the person who's just building furniture from someone who's actually crafting it.
