Cracked my domino joiner baseplate on site
Was at a kitchen reno in Salem last Tuesday, cutting loose tenons for a cabinet face frame. Heard a pop and the whole Festool baseplate just split along the fence slot. Never dropped it, always in the Systainer. That plate is thin cast aluminum, guess it just fatigued after 4 years of daily use. Had to finish the job with a drill and dowels, adding about 2 hours of work. Replacement baseplate cost me 130 bucks and took 6 days to ship. Has anyone else seen these crack around the depth stop holes? Trying to figure out if it's worth upgrading to the steel aftermarket ones or just buying another OEM.

I used to think the OEM stuff was always the way to go, but hearing about that thin plate cracking after 4 years kinda flips my view. For 130 bucks and a 6 day wait, I'd probably grab one of those steel ones and not look back.

4 years on a factory part is pretty decent honestly, most aftermarket gear dies faster.
