That $85 countertop composter sat empty for 5 months

I snagged it new from a yard sale last fall thinking I'd finally compost, but I never got past the learning curve. The bin just took up space on my counter and now the motor makes a grinding noise when it does run. I want to warn folks before they pay full price for one of these, especially if you don't already compost regularly. Has anyone else been burned by a kitchen gadget that sounded great but ended up as a dust collector?
