Gave away my grandpa's old tackle box on a whim, and a teenager showed up with his dad 20 minutes later
Posted a beat up Plano tackle box on here a couple Saturdays back, mostly because it had been sitting in my garage in Decatur for 6 years and I was tired of tripping over it. I figured some kid might want the lures, so I said first come first serve, no holds. A 14 year old and his dad pulled up about 20 minutes later, and the kid's hands were actually shaking when I handed it over, turns out he'd been saving up for his own gear since spring and this was his first real box. The dad got quiet and told me he used to fish with his own father at a lake near here that got drained in the 90s, and he hadn't thought about it in a long time. What did you guys give away that turned into way more than you expected?

Sounds like you accidentally became a Hallmark movie there for a second. Next thing you know the kid will be on your porch calling you coach and the dad will be asking if you want to split a boat. All jokes aside that is a good thing you did, most guys would've just chucked that box in the trash without a second thought. I once gave away a rusty grill and the guy acted like I handed him a new truck, so I get it. Stuff is junk to you until it lands in the right hands.
